Compressed Air Safety

Compressed air represents a considerable source of energy and accordingly, precautions must be taken to prevent accidents from its use or misuse. Improper selection or improper use or failure of the products described in this catalogue can cause property damage, personal injury and in extreme cases death.

Compressed air should never be applied to the body. Air ports, pipes, fittings, etc., should never be blocked by one's hand or other body part. Before connecting any pneumatic equipment to a compressed air supply, all of the mountings, fittings, pipework, and electrical connections should be checked for security. Under no circumstances should any removal of fittings or pipework be attempted with the air supply connected. Air and electrical supplies must be disconnected and locked-out before any adjustment, maintenance, or dismantling is started.

The maximum allowable pressures of all products must be strictly observed. No product from Pneumatic Parts is designed to exceed 150 psig. Many products have a lower maximum pressure - see the individual sections of the catalogue.

Due to the variety of operating conditions and various applications, the user is solely responsible for the selection of any product and assuring that all performance, safety and warning requirements of the product are met.
